Philippe is Belle's horse. He appears in the official trailer when Belle attacks the wolves. Philippe appears as a white horse in the live-action remake, rather than a draft horse.
Role in the Film[]
It is first shown when Belle's father, Maurice, asks his daughter what he can bring him, and Belle asks for a rose before Maurice and Philippe leave. As Maurice and Philippe travel through the forest at night, Maurice notices a pack of wolves preparing to attack. The two end up separated during the attack, although before the wolves that corner him can devour him, Philippe arrives in time for Maurice to land on his back. The two walk away from the wolves and arrive at the Beast's Castle.
Leaving the castle, scared that the castle is alive, Maurice starts riding Philippe again, but sees a garden of roses and starts picking one for Belle. When he tries to catch one, Maurice realizes that the Beast is approaching him and Philippe runs away scared. Philippe runs back to the village, returns home and approaches Bella. Noticing that her father is not with him, Belle mounts Philippe and the two head into the forest, where they finally find the Beast's castle.
Belle later leaves the castle in fear after the Beast angrily orders her to leave, riding Philippe, only to notice the wolf pack approaching. To save her, the Beast manages to scare the wolves, but is injured in the process. Philippe appears later during the part where Belle tells the Beast to pet him gently, he tries to get closer to touch him but the horse gets nervous because he is afraid of him because of his appearance, luckily Belle helps him and Philippe lets him caress; He is shown walking in the castle garden with Beast during the musical number "Something There" showing that they form a kind of friendship, and later during the climax of the film where Belle plans to warn the Beast about the evil plans Gaston.
